It is my personal mission to turn world improvers into world conquerors. I think it's great to prepare impact companies for- and take them on an international adventure. With my own company and with Generous Minds we are actually making the world a little better. It doesn't get any nicer.
I would like to see companies incorporate international work into their business model from day one. They do not have to cross the border immediately, but it is wise to think big right from the beginning and to immediately lay the proper foundation. That saves a lot of adjustments later.
The dynamics that export brings within a company is really special. But beware: once you are successful in a foreign market, you want more. Export is addictive. Before that time comes, however, some steps must be taken. External, but often also internal. Good preparation is essential. You really have to take the time to do that.
As a little girl, I sat on my lap with the World Atlas, peers read children's books. From early on, it was very clear that I was going to work internationally. After many years of roaming the world I have settled in the Netherlands again. To work internationally again from here, because that is really in my DNA.
In South America I had, among other things, an import and export company. I made all mistakes the mistakes that you can make. I wish I had known what I know now. It would have made a huge difference. In the Netherlands, I worked in export for SMEs. From Taiwan to Chile and from the US to Australia. I learned how to do it and how not to do it. How it should not be done, is surprisingly often how companies do it. It can be done so much better. Since 2010 I work as an international business consultant. With my own company we are active on all continents.
This international network is also available to Generous Minds. I have worked with and for all kinds of companies, large and small (including OPHTEC, Polyganics, Pokon Naturado, De Heus, Squalan, EntrD, Parkingware, Coolminds, Loavies, DSE). Starters International Business processes, market research, partner selection, trade missions, troubleshooting and project management. I am a mentor for a number of companies in emerging economies and I give guest lectures in higher education on international business. With my own company, we also made the choice last year to only work with world improvers. Then Generous Minds came my way. Coincidence does not exist.
