Industrial designer

Design as a means to express who we are
What I do
I train, advise and coach companies to initiate the necessary transition to a more circular way of doing business. Professor Circular Design & Manufacturing and author of the book "Products that last"
About me
As the world’s first industrial designer with a PhD in Circular Product Design from Delft University of Technology (2018), I specialize in researching and consulting on circular product design and business models for the circular economy.
I am also a certified trainer for the Innomat LCA and EVC course, a European program that accelerates Life Cycle Assessment and Eco-Cost Value Ratio-based design interventions (https://eitrawmaterials.eu/course/innomat/).
My academic journey is grounded in over thirty years of practical experience in commercial industrial design, having worked with internationally renowned design studios and clients. My portfolio includes designing fast-moving consumer goods (e.g., (food) packaging), durable consumer goods (e.g., electronics and office furniture), and professional products (e.g., retail interiors, transportation, museum displays, industrial equipment, and logistics systems).
I am the co-author of Products That Last - Product Design for Circular Business Models, a book currently used in Circular Product Design courses worldwide, including at institutions like TU Delft, MIT Design India, University of Austin, Texas, and Raffles Design School, Singapore. It also forms the foundation of the Dutch government’s CIRCO program, which promotes Circular Product Design in Dutch businesses.
To share my research findings and teach my circular design methodology, I lead corporate workshops, guest lecture at design and business schools, and publish my work in scientific journals and at international conferences.
How I help customers
I support companies that need help analyzing their existing products/services and help them develop circular solutions for the product/service they make, with research, an optimization plan, and support during optimization with workshops and as a sparring partner.
